Health & Safety
Before we cross the street, we look both ways. Before we begin driving, we buckle up. Before we walk into the McClean Lake mill, we put on our personal protective equipment. Before we do anything, we think of safety.
Safety is the foundation of AREVA Resources' culture. Ongoing initiatives, through communication and training, at site and in the offices, are imperative to maintain a safe workplaces.
Radiation Monitoring
All mine and mill site employees wear gamma dosimeters. These devices measure employees' radiation intake. The radiation results are analyzed by an independent lab and provided to the regulators and are well below regulatory limits.
Below are AREVA Resources' employees' dosimetry results from McClean Lake.
Emergency Response Team
Our active mine boast an impressive mine rescue team. The members of the team go above their regular duties to train, study, and prepare for emergency response situations. To put their training into practice, the McClean Lake Emergency Response Team (ERT) competes at the Saskatchewan Mining Association's Mine Rescue Competition each year. They are fully trained in fire fighting, first aid/CPR, gases and chemical problems.
Emergency Facilities
Most of our operations are at least 700 kilometres north of Saskatoon. As a precaution, our sites are equipped with emergency medical facilities including a nurse. Air planes and helicopters are available 24/7 in case of emergencies.
